A while back I was putting together a presentation and wanted to include a picture of me nursing my son when he was a baby. I was really disturbed when I realized that, despite having nursed him for several years, I have a total of three pictures of me nursing him.
They're nice - one of me nursing at a picnic is to the right, and another is of me nursing on a trail in Alaska - but, three?
So I've made a point of making sure that there are many more pictures of me nursing my daughter.
This takes a conscious decision, I think, because I'm usually a) holding her, or b) behind the camera. So I try to remind myself to ask my husband to take pictures.
I want to encourage all of you to do the same. This weekend, ask your partner or mom or your baby's older sibling - whomever you can - to take a couple of shots. In a few years you'll be happy you did!
