Union Institute & University offers something unique in the country: a Bachelor of Science in Maternal Child Health/Lactation Consulting. This major is offered through a learning partnership with the Healthy Children Project. They also offer a Masters of Arts degree with a focus on lactation. Some coursework can be done online, and some may require travel to locations where Healthy Children offers training.
For those of you interested in becoming IBCLCs, Union is one of only four providers that offer the education and clinical practice experience required of Pathway 2 applicants in order to qualify to take the lactation consultant certification exam.
